Big Bach Bash! 2016

The 2016 Big Bach Bash opened with Zuill Bailey palying the Bach Suite No. 3 in C Major: Sarabande, Bouree 1 & 2 and Gigue.

The Bach Cello Suites Workshop Orchestra under the baton of conductor, Vincent Bonafede, played J.S. Bach's Machs Mit Mir, Gott, Nach Deiner Gut, follwed by Two Short Dances (Gigue by Francois Viger and a Hornpipe by G.F. Handel.  

These were followed by an arrangement for cellos of Ashokan Farewll by Jay Unger.   Alexander Borodin's Theme from Polovetsian Dance No. 2, The Long Day Closes by Sir Arthur Sullivan followed.  Esther's Waltz by Bonafede was dedicated to local cellist Esther Brown (seated in the front row.)  T

The Workshop Orchestra concluded its portion of the program with Carrie Lane Gruselle's Meditation and Dance.

After a brief intermission, the faculty took the stage as a group and played the following pieces:

Bach Air, featuring Phoebe Carrai

Bach Suite No 1 in G Major, Gigue, Melissa Kraut

Elgar Cello Concerto, featuring Robert Battey

Haydn Cello Concerto in C Major, featuring Zuill Bailey [Moderato, Adagio, Allegro molto]

Bach Suite No. 6 in D Major, Sarabande - all faculty.
