Bach Cello Suites at 300 ~ Then and Now

Bach Cello Suites Workshop is celebrating the 300th Anniversary of the composition of the Six Suites for Solo Cello by Johann Sebastian Bach.

This special event features solos, duos, trios and dance!

Matt Haimovitz

Matt is the new Artistic Director of Bach Cello Suites Workshop.  He is one of the premier interpreters of the suites on baroque and modern instruments. Matt also plays plays new preludes composed by 21st century composers honoring Bach.  More about Matt.

Ashley is a rising star cellist originally from Saratoga, NY, plays suites and modern pieces based on the Suites by Sleeping Giant composers.  She will play"On Being Wrong" by Christopher Cerrone for a world premier of a new dance commissioned by the Bach Cello Suites Workshop for this event, choreographed by the Ellen Sinopoli Dance Company.  More about Ashley...

Artistic Director Ellen Sinopoli has created over 85 dances since forming the company and ESDC’s collaborations and artistic projects serve as a conduit to bring together talented artists (both regional and national) from varied genres that include visual artists, sculptors, architects, composers and musicians, poets and storytellers, videographers, photographers and physicists.  More about the ESDC..
